Lifestyle: How To Overcome The Dreary Winter Blues?

Image
I don't know what the weather is like in the UK, but over here in Germany it is appalling. Rain, cloudy skies and darkness dominate the days and when it isn't raining, depressing grey shades and weird white lighting during the day reveal a dreary, naked landscape which can really bring you down. So how to overcome the winter blues? 1. Shine From The Inside It is very easy to feel down when the weather is so depressing. A way to prevent this is to eat healthy which makes you feel good inside and when you feel great, you carry that attitude out into the world. I’ve started to change my eating habits towards more healthy food. It is a very slow change though, because I'm a picky eater and eating fresh is time consuming. Fresh food requires a lot of preparation. Most of the time I’m already hungry and freshly cooked meals take up to 2h which has recently put my patience to the test but it has worked. I feel more calm and relaxed since I cook homemade soup with fresh Apple&C

FEBulous: The Library Of Fragrance. Sunshine And Rain

Image
US brand Demeter Fragrance Library has launched their exclusive cologne perfume range in the UK last September. Under the name  The Library of Fragrance , there are extraordinary and unusual scents such as Moonbeam, Thunderstorm, Wet Garden or Belgian Waffle sold at Boots for £15 per bottle. |About The Library of Fragrance| Established on the US market since 1996, The Library of Fragrance now conquers the UK with their unique cologne sprays. 'Cologne' in the perfumery world is used to describe fragrance concentration and has little to do with the famous Cologne Water No 4711. The innovative concept is designed that each scent is unisex and aims to capture all 'the beautiful scents that surround us everyday' and take senses onto a stimulating journey of imagination. The collection includes classic scents such as Vanilla, Cherry Blossom or Lavender, but there's also Ice Cream, Gingerbread and Chocolate Cookie. Unusual but interesting is Pizza, which is rumored to be u

Fashion: The Gemini Press Day In Stratford

Image
Two weeks ago I was invited by the lovely ladies from  Gemini Woman  to have an exclusive sneak peek at their Scandinavian clothing line  Sandwich  and its SS15 collection. Alongside other fashion bloggers, I made my way over to the idyllic town of Stratford-Upon-Avon to the wonderful  Arden Hotel  where the event was held. I was very excited when the ladies from Gemini Woman reached out to me via Twitter and invited me to their Fashion Treasure Trove at the Arden Hotel in Stratford-Upon-Avon. Not only is Stratford my secret place where I find myself regularly daydreaming to live one day, it has also a magical atmosphere, traditional British houses, charming shops and of course the long literary history, that fascinate me a lot. I've eaten a few times at The Arden Hotel which was an additional reason to attend the press day. A new fashion collection introduced in charming Stratford at a stunning hotel, yes please! Gemini is the biggest stockist of Danish brand Sandwich in the UK, w

Beauty: FEBulous Hand Creams For Dry Winter Skin

Image
How are you? This time, I tried and tested hand cream which is an essential product in our handbags, especially now in winter, when we have to experience massive temperature fluctuations that can dry out our skin quickly. |The Contestants| (1) Benecos Natural Care, (2) The Body Shop Frosted Cranberry, (3) L'Occitaine Dry Skin. (1) Benecos Natural Care Hand Cream*, £2.95 At around £3, the Benecos hand cream is the most affordable one from all my chosen contestants and with 75ml offers also the most content. I’m in love with the packaging, which has a bright orange colour and the floral pattern looks eye-catching. All Benecos products are natural care and vegan and so is this one, too. The cream itself has a glossy shine, a cream white colour and there’s this typical neutral, but pleasant hand cream smell. Wet and creamy in consistency and not runny at all, a few drops are enough to cover your hands evenly. The light formula is absorbed quickly within seconds by the skin and won’t le

Film: Cinema Highlights In February

Image
During my UK trip I had time to catch up on films so here are my high- and low lights for this month. Hope you'll enjoy and let me know which ones you've seen and are excited about to watch. 1. Shaun The Sheep. The Movie. 7/10 Shaun and his flock finally get the chance to star in their very first movie, so we are thrown into a 80 minute long adventure far away from the idyillic British countryside - in the big city. Of course the farmer, dog Bitzer and Baby Timmy join us when we make new friends and get up to mischief. I've never thought of Shaun the Sheep as a mere toddler's programme, it is very cutely animated and a nice change to simply sit back, watch and enjoy a film without any dialogues, in which pictures and music speak enough for themselves. 2. Jupiter Ascending 3/10 Technically speaking the sci-fi opera ticks all the boxes with regards to special effects and cast. I mean there's Channing Tatum (for the ladies), Mila Kunis (for the boys) and actor-of-the-h

Lifestyle: Gayle Forman. I Was Here Review + Giveaway

Image
Long time no read, but luckily Gayle Forman's latest YA fiction novel I Was Here* found its way on my desk. Whilst I've been out and about last weekend, it accompanied me on my travels and made the time go by very fast. The novel centers around a girl friendship and questions how well we really know our 'best friends'. With my blogiversary celebrated today, there's also the chance for you to win one copy of the book. Main protagonist Cody and her best friend Meg are inseparable since childhood. Everything changes when Meg leaves for college in another town and commits suicide, which leaves Cody puzzled and lost behind. What has happened to Meg and their friendship? Why didn't she talk to Cody and confide in her? Cody embarks on a journey to Meg's former life, piecing together her friends' last few months whilst at the same time takes small steps back into her own life and regains control over it. Forman's novel questions the meaning of 'true frie

Beauty: Nanshy 4in1 Make Up Blending Sponge

Image
Earlier in January, I took part in the Bloggers Love Twitter Party and got the chance to work for the very first time with  Nanshy . I've been lusting over their gorgeous makeup brushes and products for a while and now, I was even going to try and test one of their latest addition to their range before it hit stores. Later this February, Nanshy will release a 4in1 Blending MakeUp Sponge* which I have reviewed for you. The packaging is gorgeous and of high quality. The sponge itself is super soft and feels pleasant on your skin. Through the special pear shape, the sponge is handy and easy to use. Before its use, you'll need to wet it and the sponge will grow in size. It has actually doubled in size when I used it. The edge is perfect to hold your makeup, foundation, primer or face balm and allows an even and neat application. Especially hard to access parts of your face, e.g. nose, are now perfect to reach. Clean your sponge afterwards with warm water and let it dry before you p
