Lifestyle: Gayle Forman. I Was Here Review + Giveaway

Image
Long time no read, but luckily Gayle Forman's latest YA fiction novel I Was Here* found its way on my desk. Whilst I've been out and about last weekend, it accompanied me on my travels and made the time go by very fast. The novel centers around a girl friendship and questions how well we really know our 'best friends'. With my blogiversary celebrated today, there's also the chance for you to win one copy of the book. Main protagonist Cody and her best friend Meg are inseparable since childhood. Everything changes when Meg leaves for college in another town and commits suicide, which leaves Cody puzzled and lost behind. What has happened to Meg and their friendship? Why didn't she talk to Cody and confide in her? Cody embarks on a journey to Meg's former life, piecing together her friends' last few months whilst at the same time takes small steps back into her own life and regains control over it. Forman's novel questions the meaning of 'true frie...

Lifestyle / Film: The Maze Runner. Book vs Film

Image
Most films this year have been average and rather disappointing. To me, there were only a handful of films that really stood out:  The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet , Begin Again and The Maze Runner, the dramatic adaptation of bestselling author James Dashner YA novel. The latest really thrilled me and got my attention in every second. I was craving for information in every minute of the film and needed to know answers to what was going on. The 2h running time went by so fast and though the story was somehow closed in itself, it left room for some interpretation and you could tell that there will be a second film following. Of course I'm an impatient Germ, so when I got back home after seeing the film, I ordered the first book straight away. It took me a while to finish it, as the narrative and writing style is a bit different to the film and there are some deviations to the adaption. Can you really compare a book to its adaptation? Yes you can, though I...

Books: Endgame Event At Waterstones In Bath

Image
I recently reviewed  Endgame by James Frey , a new YA fiction trilogy, co-written by  Nils Johnson-Shelton . If you think you've never heard of James Frey before, think again, because the bestselling author brought us the very successful  Lorien Legacies  series. With the LL coming slowly to an end, James has now published another highly addictive series: the first book in the Endgame trilogy was officially released on the 7th October 2014 in over 160 countries, which marks one of the biggest simultaneous release in publishing ever. James is currently on a big promo tour and he stopped by in humble Bath just a week ago. Last Wednesday, I made my way over to Bath. My friend couldn't make it, so I went to the event on my own. The Waterstone's is right in the middle of Bath's posh high street and it is one of the best ones I've ever been to. The staff were very friendly and supportive, so at this point I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone for organising such...
