Giveaway: Nikolaus Day In Germany

Image
In my culture, the 6 th  of December marks a very important tradition in the pre-festive period leading up to Christmas. We celebrate Nikolaus Day in honour of Saint Nikolaus, a 4 th  century saint who brought gifts to children and the poor. Nikolaus Day has been special because it is not only a little treat before Christmas and increase the anticipation for Christmas Eve, it is also a day to educate children. Tradition has it that you have to clean your shoes the night before Nikolaus Day. Children who have been modest and well-behaved throughout the year will leave their boots spotless and will find small gifts in the morning. Their shoes will be filled with sweets, candied apples and nuts. Naughty kids on the other hand will neglect their shoes and leave them dirty, so Krampus or sometimes Knecht Ruprecht (Nikolaus devilish helpers) will gift them with a rod and punish them with it. Knecht Ruprecht usually comes in ragged clothes and heavy chains to represent the tamed evil...

Fashion: Summer At Your Feet. Ipanema Flip Flops

Image
A few weeks ago  I decluttered my wardrobe  to get it autumn and winter ready. Sadly, my pair of Gisele Bündchen's Ipanema flip flops had to go into hibernation. I had my pair for a while and I think they are great quality, because they are made of recycled PVC and have a soft and elastic feel. I won't put my flip flops too far away though, because I like to take them with me on holidays in the sun and recently, we had some warm autumn days in the UK. I had a cheeky look at Ipanema's website and was surprised at the wonderful range of shoes they have on their site. They have a men's, women's and kid's collection and all of their designs are inspired by the culture of Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro. The shoes are all very colourful and scream summer all over, so owning a pair from them will just add some super stylish Brazilian culture to your wardrobe. 1. Mix Flip Flop £17 - This simple black design comes with a twist of neon pink and yellow, which I...
