Lifestyle: Baker Days Cakes And Giveaway

Image
Hi ladies, Style Lingua's birthday  is a month ago. I can't believe how fast time has gone by since I left my old blog Lunch Break Adventures behind and re-branded as Style Lingua. I hope you've enjoyed the posts and new layout so far. I'm still learning and working on improving this blog, especially the photography is a major point I'd like to enhance in the next couple of weeks. Anyway, as today marks the first month of Style Lingua I'd like to celebrate with you and of course where there's a birthday, there's cake involved :)  To celebrate my first month of Style Lingua and the start into a new bright blogging future, Baker Days kindly sent me one of their letterbox cakes*. From a wide collection of different designs for various occasions I decided for the Little Birdie cake with the customised message Wishing you all the best for a wonderful future as I found the classy design would best match the purpose of my re-branding.    On Baker Day's we...

Fashion: Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty Exhibition In London

Image
Hi ladies, I went to London for a few days earlier this month and the big highlight of my stay was a trip over to the  Victoria & Albert Museum  to visit the iconic and much talked about fashion exhibition  Savage Beauty  by Alexander McQueen. The exhibition showcases masterpieces of the designer who sadly passed away in 2010. To be honest with you, I knew very little about the British designer who committed suicide in 2010. Before my visit to the exhibition I have to confess I ignorantly expected to see clothes presented in a museum but I couldn't have been more wrong. Savage Beauty is in the first place an art exhibition dedicated to the incredible work and contribution to fashion by the artist McQueen. You won’t see ‘mere clothes’ exhibited but expect 10 lavish rooms with installments to reflect McQueen’s genius heritage.    The pieces showcased at Savage Beauty are on a high and different level of fashion to any other clothes that I've seen before. ...

Fashion: Stradivarius Head To Toe OODT. Part 2

Image
How is everyone?  My first Stradivarius head to toe fashion post  is a while back, but I've been in their Stratford store again and hauled it. You can literally go in there and come out with an entire new outfit, without the hourly long search for matching items. Don't you think today's ootd has a little bit of a French touch? Hope you'll enjoy today's post. Have fun! Stradivarius is the boho casual little sister brand of Zara with super romantic styles and laid back outfits. I only wanted to buy a new pair of jeans but they are at the beginning of the shop and the fitting rooms are at the end. So on the way there, I picked up the shirt and the blazer (I didn't need a blazer, but I checked the prize tag and I couldn't resist). That's why I love Stradivarius so much. You pick up stuff that's nice and actually looks nice on you and they are affordable and just wow you completely over. The last time I had this 'hauling' fever was back in 2009/2...

Lifestyle: Why Instagram Doesn't Work For Me

Image
How are you? When it comes to social media platforms, using Twitter is my preference. The quick and hassle free communication that allows you to connect easily with people around the world and the high level of interaction make it a clear winner for me. If asked which platform will be the most successful one in the coming years I will say Twitter. But you may suggest Instagram. I do have Instagram, but I'm struggling and I'm nearly about to give up on it. I've been using Instagram for 9 months now and find it particularly messy. Since I had it, it hasn't worked much in my favour and it constantly frustrates me. Posting pictures gets me some likes but hardly any interaction, which is a complete different story when I post the same picture on Twitter. Maybe I haven't cracked it yet and with this post I hope to get some opinion and advice from some of you. - Insta is static. The great thing about Twitter is the quick interaction which is possible through an access...

Fashion: Let's Go To The Beach. Summer OOTD

Image
What's for sure is that Germany's summer are long and hot. Luckily my parents live in the driest region of the country so I'm used to enjoying long hot days from May till late September. A summer without the feeling of the sun's warmth on my tanned skin combined with a smell of sunscreen and water is not a real summer to me. As soon as it gets warm, people head to the beach, cycle down to the nearest lake or public swimming pool and enjoy life. The barbecues, the cries of the swallows, the warm air and the late sunset are just waiting for us. Let summer come! Here's What I'm Wearing Esperanza Sleeveless Peplum Top *: WearAll (current season SS15, £11) Shorts: Primark (season 2012, £5) Necklace: Miss Selfridge (season 2012, sale £2.50) Beach Bag: New Look (SS09, £25) Sunglasses: Warehouse (SS2013, sale £15) Sandals*: Betsy Delicate (current SS15, £26.99) Thank you so much for reading today’s post and I hope you’ll be joining me on my next adventure. You may have...

Lifestyle: What's In My Handbag?

Image
List and What's In My Handbag posts are my favourite blog reads, because I'm quite nosy and I love to know what other bloggers carry around and use daily. My recent list post on  The 10 Things Why The UK Is Awesome was picked up so well that I've decided to do a handbag post next. I've been dying to do this post for a while now and I finally got around to do it. Hope you'll have fun exploring my Kate Spade shopper and its content. |Practical| 1. TomTom Sat Nav, Car Keys & License, Visconti Leather Wallet When I'm out I barely use public transport (except for London or when I go into Birmingham) and I drive a lot in Britain and Germany. A few years ago I would refuse to use sat navs, simply because I've learnt in driving school, how a good driver prepares and studies a map BEFORE he goes on a trip, which makes it easier to focus on the road and traffic. However, when I did my first massive tour around the UK in 2011, having a sat nav proved to...

Fashion: Style Crush Olivia Palermo

Image
How are you? Following my  Gwen Stefani Style Crush  post a while back, I saw this picture of Olivia Palermo and knew immediately that I have a similar outfit in my wardrobe and need to show you my take on her casual street style look. Here it is and I hope you'll enjoy today's post. Let me know what you think. Why Olivia's style works: Well, the art is to look casual and effortless though you've spent ages in your wardrobe putting the outfit together. The pieces individually may look a bit boring but in composition together they create an interesting look. Gold accessories and bright colours are the season's trend, therefore Olivia's style is very chic and suitable for daytime or casual after work drinks. The golden accessories are simple, but effective and the entire look doesn't need a necklace or earrings which I really like. I haven't had bright blue shoes to complement the shirt's Denim shade, but I replaced the blue with some bright ye...

Fashion: Dainty Or Statement Jewellery? How You Can Rock Them Both!

Image
Dainty or statement, avid readers of my fashion, film and lifestyle blog know how much I love jewellery and that I will introduce you to a new brand occasionally. With new accessory brands popping up by the minute, I'd like to share with you two recent discoveries named  Rara De Barr  and  Orelia Jewellery .  |Statement Jewellery: Rara De Barr| Born in 2014 by two ambitious sisters, Rara De Barr first ran entirely as weekly fixed price auctions on FB. These are still run today with the addition of a website where you can find chunky statement jewellery and accessories. As statement already implies, the styles are elaborate and sumptuous without looking cheap or tacky. The Clear Plume Necklace* has a romantic touch which you may have seen in my recent style post  A Romantic Spring OOTD . This necklace can be worn on a night out or for a special occasion, it will glam up any outfit in an instant and works best with basic styles. The multi-...
