Film: The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet
The moment ‘The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet’ started I was hooked and the film completely drew me into its world.
The pictures were magnificent with clear colours and perfect precision to spot even the smallest blade of grass. The fantastic, vibrant shades of the untouched Wyoming landscape burst with dimension and warmth. In this world on a small farm lives T.S. with his family. Away from noisy traffic and bulky skyscrapers, T.S. experiences a protected childhood in this wilderness, till one day, that will change life as he knows it forever.
Quirky, random, funny but very charmingly narrated, this film is an absolute must-see in the cinema. The film is a perfect mixture of a coming of age, road trip and family drama, but stays always light-hearted, touching and easy-to-watch. The 2h running time flew by so fast and I wished it would have never ended.
The charming main actor was brilliant to watch, same with Helena Bonham Carter, who I was pleased to see in a role, in which she had long dialogues and scenes completely of her own to shine.
The film’s strong narrative and message, as well as the homage to academics and superior human intelligence really appealed to me.
I'll definitely see it again and get the DVD. See it whilst you can, it is only on in selected cinemas!
10/10
Have you seen this magnificent movie yet? What do you reckon?
Till next time,
