Fashion: Tried And Tested. SheInside Review

Image
You've probably heard about Sheinside.com, the popular online shop with incredible clothes at affordable prices. Their stunning outfits and clothes are literally found on any decent fashion blog - you just can't escape this on-trend website in the blogger-sphere. Anyway, I've spent a while silently watching the online shop and lusting over some dresses and their luring prices. Through a recent, very upsetting online purchase on jewellery I got careful with buying from the internet and check now more than twice if it is worth buying online or not. So, I researched Sheinside.com and came across numerous disappointing reviews, ranging from 'the clothes are cheap quality' via 'the clothes have weird sizes' to 'the parcel never arrived, my money is gone and the customer service only replies in broken English'. Great - clearly a sign to stay away. However, my curiosity had no limits so I spent more time on reading reviews and voilà , also came across posit

Books: The Revenge of Seven. Lorien Legacies Book 5 Book Review

Image
On Wednesday I received a fresh copy of The Revenge of Seven* (RoS), the fifth book in the Lorien Legacies series. I've spent all of Thursday to read the 314 page long adventure following our favourite characters Six, John (aka Number Four), Sam and Nine in their epic fight against the dangerous Mogadorians. I'm very proud to present you today my review of the gripping novel. The book is officially out on the 26th August 2014. |Synopsis| After the fight with Setrakus Ra, the betrayal of Five and the death of Eight, the Garde is yet again split up: Ella, kidnapped by Setrakus Ra, is abducted into space, where she is forced by the Mog leader to bend down to his powers and to cooperate. Ella’s been told, she is related to Setrakus and he marks her with a powerful Mogadorian charm, which connects both of them. She resists and discovers a new legacy, which might be the key to his downfall. John, Sam, Malcom, Adam and Sarah receive unexpected help from the alien conspiracy blog They

Film: Hector And The Search For Happiness

Image
I’ve seen the film yesterday and I can’t recommend it at all. It is based on the first novel of the  Hector trilogy by François Lelord but some of the literary voice and motifs simply do not work in this film and make it very annoying. Main character Hector is a midlife crisis psychologist and decides from one day to the other, that he wants to give up his comfy London life to find his place in the world and an answer to the question: What makes us (truly) happy? The very well-known feeling of wanderlust, teamed up with thirst for adventures and the Ok-I’m-Gone-Bye-Bye mentality, is part of every student’s life. In Hector’s case it becomes part of a mid-40, who slowly but surely realises, that the fast track of life (university, work, work, work and making money) is not the key nor does it bring absolute fulfillment. So, let’s talk about Hector. He has some sort of childhood trauma, which now and again appears, but feels always out of context and is never explained. It is just thrown a

Film: Disney Films Alice In Wonderland 2 in Gloucester

Image
A Disney film crew shot scenes for the new ' Alice in Wonderland 2: Through the Looking Glass ' movie in Gloucester last night. Unfortunately,  Tim Burton  will not direct the sequel but  Mia Wasikowska ,  Johnny Depp  and  Anne Hathaway  reprise their roles in the extravagant adaptation of Lewis Carroll's novel. Mia Wasikowska, who plays the lead role as Alice, was spotted on set filming probably the opening scene of the film. |A Busy Film Crew In The Quays| A few weeks ago, a film crew shot scenes for the new 'Star Wars' film at Puzzlewood in the Forest of Dean, which is not too far away from where I live. This region is very popular for the film industry and even Gloucester is known to many as the film location to the Harry Potter movies. Now the Quays in Gloucester are becoming a hot spot for movies, too. This time the iconic buildings of the harbour side in the Quays, Biddle and Llanthon Warehouse, will make their cinema debut in the new Disney 'Alice in Wo

Lifestyle: Dog Treats For Dogs (And Humans)

In June I was dog sitting Jarvis, our family labradoodle. He is a handsome chocolate coloured life-sized Teddy bear with a very gentle and kind character. Last time when he saw me working on a blog post, Jarvis seemed very fascinated by it. I told him that people read and like my blog and sometimes I get nice things sent to review. He asked me 'Do you think people would like me to do a post?' and I said 'Yes sure, people are fascinated when they meet you in public, so why not give it a try ?'. Said and done. I wrote a polite pitch to some pet brands explaining that my dog and I were looking for some support for the post. Pooch & Mutt and Salty Dog replied and kindly gifted some products to us to try out and review. We both had no idea what to expect and how this blog post will turn out in the end. |First Treat: Salty Dog*| I found Salty Dog after an online search and I liked their website a lot with their comic dog mascot and pet friendly jargon to navigate the si

Lifestyle: Design Your Own Magnum At Selfridges In London #MagnumxSelfridges

Image
I have a very delicious lunch break treat for you in today's post. Yesterday I strolled casually around London and stopped at Selfridges to take pictures of their beautifully decorated window. The massive  Magnum  caught my eye so I took several shots and noticed that Magnum invited shoppers to the Ground Floor of the luxurious department store to enjoy a very special treat. |The Magnum Pop Up Store At Selfridges| During the Olympics two years ago, Magnum had a pop-up store at Westfield in Stratford. The store at Selfridges is very similar, though bigger and truly amazing! It has lots of space and Magnum is everywhere. The spacious bar provides countless choices for toppings and there's a screen showing delicious ice cream variations. The staff is extremely chillaxed and friendly. Queuing takes around 20-45mins so bring a bit of time with you when you visit the Magnum experience. |How to create your Magnum| You can chose either a blank vanilla or caramel ice cream, then it will
